K’Ogalo have been on a mission to regain the title this season and return to continental football after enduring a horrendous 2024/25 season that saw them go trophyless after surrendering the league title to Kenya Police FC before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Nairobi United in the Mozzart Bet Cup final.
The 21-time record league champions have largely been impressive this season and are currently at the summit of the league table with 40 points, enjoying a four-point buffer against their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards, who are second.
With the current league season proving to be ultra-competitive, especially with the resurgence of AFC Leopards, Morrison believes K’Ogalo has what it takes to emerge victorious.
“The mood in the team is very good. We are focused, well-motivated, and courageous now that we can see the league within reach. We just have to keep pushing until the end,” Morrison told Gor Mahia media.
In the absence of regular club captains, Philemon Otieno, Alpha Onyango and Mike Kibwage, the former Asante Kotoko midfielder got an opportunity to captain Gor Mahia for the first time against Sofapaka on Saturday, 31 January, a matter that left him delighted.
“It is a great feeling to be the leader of a great team. It was a big task, but I thank God we delivered.”
In the Saturday afternoon clash, K’Ogalo cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory, a scoreline Morrison admitted the team had been eyeing.
“We are focused, we always keep an eye on the table, and we know goals are very important. We told ourselves that we have to take all the chances we get,” he noted.
Gor Mahia will now shift their focus to the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup, where they will face Siaya-based side Dero FC in a Round of 64 match on Saturday, 7 February at the Maboleo Stadium in Kisumu.
