“That’s why everyone hates you!"

Vinicius and his behavior are once again a topic in Spain
Vinicius is a fantastic player - there’s no doubt about it. This season, in 11 matches, he already has five goals and four assists. And even when he doesn’t have a tangible statistical impact, Vinícius still “decides” games. Like against Getafe, when he provoked a red card for Allan Nyom and paved the way for Real’s narrow 1–0 win. However, when Vinícius is at the center of attention, you know it didn’t come without incidents. Vini simply doesn’t know any other way — even when he plays just over half an hour. Against Getafe, he entered the pitch in the 55th minute and very quickly clashed with one of the opposing defenders, Juan Iglesias. And it wasn’t just physical duels — Movistar’s cameras caught Iglesias saying to him: “That’s why everyone hates you! Learn something from your teammates”.
Kylian Mbappe stepped in to pull Vinícius away from the scuffle, but that wasn’t the end of the problems. In the 76th minute, Nyom came on, and just 50 seconds later, while trying to stop the Brazilian’s run, hit him in the head with his hand — the referee immediately showed him a red card. And what did Vinícius do? He walked over to Getafe’s bench and shouted to coach Jose Bordalas: “Good substitution, good one”.
“He doesn’t need to come and tell me how great my substitutions are, he doesn’t need to come and provoke,” Bordalas said angrily after the match, also frustrated by the red card.
“I heard the fourth official saying he was going to send him off. He was close. And I agree it was an excessive foul — a serious one. But everything could have been solved with a yellow card, because Vinícius also exaggerated. He barely touched him in the face. It was an unjustified red card“ he said.
After the match, Iglesias was even more combative:
“In football, there are many incidents, many arguments. In the heat of the moment — it happens. And it all usually stays on the pitch. But some things shouldn’t be allowed. You have to respect your opponent. You have to respect footballers. Because when you don’t, sparks start flying everywhere,” complained Iglesias.
Kiko Femenía, who clearly said both of Getafe’s red cards (since there was another later) were too harsh, didn’t hesitate to openly call Vinícius a provocateur.
“He plays his own game, and it works for him. As long as referees let him get away with it, he’ll keep doing it”. But Vinícius won’t change. He’s simply addicted to that toxic dynamic — with opposing fans, with opposing players... And it’s no secret that many at Real aren’t fond of such behavior either. But as long as he keeps deciding matches, they’ll tolerate him.
