Talanta Sports City continues to take shape and grab headlines with a host of developments including the actualization of the media facade lighting that resembles Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena in Germany.
As initially conclusively covered by Mozzart Sport, the stadium is earmarked to be among the few in the World that will have lighting on its walls that improves its aesthetics and can be used for advertisements with visibility more conspicuous at night.

Talanta Sports City Stadium is a multibillion ultramodern infrastructure project undertaken by the Government of Kenya (GoK) to improve the sporting industry in Kenya by creating a world class facility.
Under the tenure of Sport CS Ababu Namwamba as the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Kenya began the construction of the stadium in March 2024 after a groundbreaking ceremony presided over by President William Ruto.
This is after the country jointly along neighbours Tanzania and Uganda secured the rights to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in a bid that was dubbed PAMOJA (Swahili word for Together).
Since the ground breaking ceremony, construction works at the facility have been going on a day and night basis with the contractor, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) working round the clock to ensure the facility is delivered in a timely manner
According to latest photos in social media including Facebook through Talanta Sports City Stadium and Talanta Stadium, the media facade lighting is now operational and increases the visibility especially at night.
The technology integrates LED and other advanced lighting technologies on the outer surface to create large scale visually engaging displays.

Talanta now joins other world class facilities such as the Allianz Arena, Marcedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA, Khalifa International Stadium in Doha Qatar and will be the second in the East African region after Uganda’s Hoima Stadium that will also host the 2027 AFCON.
Apart from the media facade lighting the other major latest development at Talanta Stadium is the commencement of the installation of the canopy as the last step in roofing.
The canopy which has already been installed in two roofing structures according to images circulating on social media is made up of a Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) - a lightweight membrane system used in modern stadiums that offers shed to protect fans while also allowing light to enter the stadium.
The Canopy will sit on the already completed roofing steel structures that are held by the computerized hydraulic tension cable net system - the latest sophisticated roofing technology system that has been used in only four other stadiums across the globe.
The technology deviates from the commonly used compression to stabilize the roof and instead employs the use of tension to erect a tension cable net system where the roof sits.
Powerful hydraulic jacks are combined with a network of high strength steel cables which are then fitted gradually as the cable net is installed and lifted in phases until about two meters from the top of the stadium to allow for the roofing steel structure to sit on it.
With this technology, a large section of the roofing structure is made and fitted on the ground before being lifted thus reducing the labour required in roofing as well as reducing the risks associated with working at height as a modern trend in health and safety practice.
The Kenyan emblems which were being installed on the facade/curtain wall for heritage and beautification purposes have already been completed across the 60,000-seater stadium even as the March completion date draws nearer.
Additionally, the construction and installation of a modern playing field is continuing with the drainage and grounding works currently taking place.
The field is made with an aim to allow for drainage and prevent any mud that may be visible on player jerseys even when a match is played during the rainy season.
Even as that continues, the partitioning and finishing and fitting works of various rooms that will be in the facility also continues.
Talanta will have among others seven changing rooms, a fully equipped Video Assistant Referee (VAR) room, Anti-Doping room and modern media center among others.
Once complete, the Stadium is expected to be used in a few test matches as it is prepared to be utilized as Kenya’s main arena for the 2027 AFCON.
