New Nairobi City Stars signing Stephen Bulugu has confirmed that “a slight injury” has been the reason behind his sidelining, even as he awaits his FKF Premier League debut at the club.

The left-back, who was signed from Muhoroni Youth in the off-season transfer window, has so far missed all matchday squads for Nicholas Muyoti’s side this season, raising eyebrows about his status.

But in an interview with the club, Bulugu said: “A slight injury has kept me out from my debut but it’s only a matter of time and I will be ready to feature for the team.”

In a frantic off-season, Bulugu, who was highly sought-after by three FKF Premier League teams, including Posta Rangers and Kakamega Homeboyz, chose to join Simba wa Nairobi, says that he is loving his time at the camp.

“In the short time I have been here, City Stars has already become my big family,” the former Mtibiwa Sugar FC player said.

“Everyone has become a close friend. I feel well-guided so far, and I am happy to be part of the establishment.

Training has been good and I must thank the technical bench for the clear structure they deploy,” he added.

Bulugu, who is expected to wear jersey number 22, was one of three new faces signed alongside center back Brian Opinde, flyer Andre Kalama, and midfielder James Ssemambo.

The four were accompanied to City Stars by the returning defensive mid Sven Yidah, who made his way back after two seasons out.
