Olunga started the clash against Al Rayyan at Al Thumama Stadium, but for the third consecutive match, the goals eluded him as the game ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Al Rayyan struck first in the 34th minute when Roger Guedes capitalized on a rare error from Al Arabi goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail, slotting home a precise finish from a brilliant assist by Wesley Ribeiro.

Al Arabi, however, turned the game on its head, drawing level through Pablo Sarabia in the 52nd minute before Alexis Perez put the side ahead 2-1 after 72 minutes, giving fans the hope of a long-awaited victory.

That hope was dashed in stoppage time when Mohammed Saleh fired in a last-gasp equalizer for Al Rayyan, denying Al Arabi their first win in three games after back-to-back losses.

Olunga, who last found the net on November 29 in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Al Khor, played the full 90 minutes but could not break his scoring duck.

The Stars skipper managed a shot on target, hit the woodwork once and missed one big chance in the match.

The Kenyan striker remains on six league goals from nine appearances and seven across all competitions from ten matches this season but he will be eager to end his dry spell as the new year begins.

The match also saw Al Arabi reduced to ten men late on after Abdullah Marafee was shown a red card in the dying moments, adding to the frustration of dropping points from what seemed a comfortable position.

With the draw, Al Arabi moved to sixth place on the table with 17 points, while Al Rayyan climbed to 20 points, keeping their pursuit of the top positions alive.
