Six Ligue 1 sides 'at war' for UCL, PSG take a bystander role

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 19.04.25. | 15:30

Even though the Saints have already won the Ligue 1 title, the fight for the Europe will be as fierce as it gets, as the gap between second-placed Monaco and seventh-placed Nice is only five points

It's Ligue 1 day and Paris Saint-Germain's match is completely irrelevant. How often can one say that? Rarely.

However, the Parisians have already secured their fourth consecutive French top-tier crown and their clash against relegation-strugglers Le Havre (18.00) at Parc des Princes won't be too important. If anything, it could be important to the visitors in their battle to survive, if they manage to stun the giants.

Although the title contest is already sealed, Ligue 1 is far from dull, since as many as six teams are involved in a fierce battle for the top three places which lead to the Champions League next season. The fourth spot secures the UCL qualifiers, while the #5 and #6 guarantee UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League qualifiers.

That race couldn't be more intriguing, as the gap between the second-placed Monaco and seventh-placed Nice is only five points!

Les Rouge et Blanc today host the Ligue 1 #6 Strasbourg (20.00), which sit only three points behind. On the other hand, Olympique Marseille should have the easiest job tonight (22.05), as they host the worst team in the league, Montpellier.

The remaining contenders, Lyon, Lille, and Nice, play tomorrow, but regardless of the results, the "rumble" between the French will be wild until the end.
