There were a few but significant changes to both the promotion and relegation matrices, with AFC Leopards holding on to the top spot.
Mozzart Sport conclusively covered all the matches and was on ground to witness the positives and negatives from the match week and has summarised some of the findings into these six lessons.
AFC Leopards' best shot at the title in decades
AFC Leopards might as well be ready to end their 28-year wait for the league title by clinching the crown this season.
Leopards have never displayed solid title intentions as they have shown this season, where they have stepped up to win when it matters and when they seem to fall, they have found a way of picking up the pieces to rise again - a key characteristic of champions.

The 1998 league champions were once again under pressure when they faced 12-time league champions Tusker on Sunday, 11 January at Nyayo Stadium, but showed character and grabbed a 4-0 victory.
Head coach Fred Ambani has insisted that each member of his team must have the mind and mentality of winning the league this season, and as it looks, they have welcomed the message.
The management believes, the coach believes, the players believe, and the fans believe even more.
Charles Akonnor lacks sting in crucial matches
Kenyan giants Gor Mahia once again failed to deliver on the big stage as they were held to a barren draw by Shabana FC in a match played at Gusii Stadium on Sunday, 11 January.
K’Ogalo are in a bid to reclaim the league title this campaign after enduring a disappointing 2024/25 season that saw the club finish trophyless.
The team made several signings before the start of the season, including constituting a new foreign technical bench led by former Ghana head coach Charles Akonnor.
Their fans, therefore, expect the team to win crucial matches, but what they have witnessed thus far is disappointing.
The 21-time record league champions barely had a shot on target when they suffered a 1-0 loss to AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby, which was preceded by an infamous 4-1 loss to APS Bomet.

Gor’s insipid performance against Shabana did not inspire fan confidence either, as the Glamour Boys created the better chances of scoring.
With Leopards on top of the table and the title race heating up, the Green Army will be expecting to see coach Akonnor packing more punch into the team’s display that will be able to deliver in crucial matches; otherwise, a disappointment awaits the team at the end of the season
A blunt attack might cost Police FC the title
Kenya Police FC rewrote history when they won the 2024/25 league title, as it was the first in the club’s history and was meant to be one of many titles.
The team had a target of retaining the league title this season, but that ambition may as well be just a pipe dream if they do not fix their blunt attack.
The Law Enforcers once again drew blanks as they were held to a barren draw by KCB FC in their Friday afternoon clash.

It was the fourth time that the 2024 Mozzart Bet Cup champions shot blanks in six matches, and they might just see their title hopes fizzle out due to their blunt attack.
Monday ball gathers steam at Murang'a
Former Harambee Stars midfielder Osborne Monday has successfully instilled his philosophy and style of play at Murang'a Seal, and the results have begun to trickle in.
The tactician endured a rough start to life in the team and at some point was reportedly given an ultimatum to win, but he has managed to turn himself into a fan favourite at St. Sebastian Park.
Slowly but surely, Seal have been improving, and for the first time since their promotion to the top tier, they have won three matches in a row, the latest being a 2-0 victory over Mathare United.
The team is currently on a 10-match unbeaten run, the longest in the league this season. The Murang'a-based side last tasted defeat on 26 October 2025, a 1-0 loss to Tusker FC.
Time up for Okere at Tusker FC?
Tusker FC might as well be warming up for life without head coach Charles Okere, who might be shown the exit door if the words of chairman Charles Gucheru, who exclusively spoke to Mozzart Sport, are anything to go by.
Okere has posted inconsistent results at Tusker this season, but survived the first wave of sacking when he turned results around. Their heavy 4-0 defeat to AFC Leopards might as well be the straw that will break the camel’s back.
Akhulia must perform another miracle for Bidco to survive
Bidco United once again find themselves in the relegation matrix, but this time round, under grim circumstances that head coach Anthony Akhulia must fix lest they get consumed by the wide jaws of relegation.
The Oilers are currently 15th on the log with as many points, just a point and place above the relegation zone.
Bidco are on an 11-match winless streak and could have been worse were it not for goalkeeper Issa Emuria, who has seven clean sheets and the defense marshalled by Kevin Ouma.
Unfortunately for Akhulia, he has lost Ouma, who has returned to his parent club, Police FC, as well as goalkeeper trainer Sam Koko, who has joined Nairobi United.
Akhulia must therefore find the many ingredients missing in his team if they are not to return to the National Super League (NSL) after five years in the top flight.
