Heading to the match, The Glamour Boys had failed to win their last three home matches, losing to Posta Rangers, Mathare United and AFC Leopards respectively.
Nevertheless, they were on a good run of form, winning two and drawing one of their last three matches, overcoming a previous five-match winless streak.
Peter Okidi's charges beat defending champions Kenya Police FC 1-0 in their last match courtesy of a Gilbert Abala goal.
Bidco, on the other hand, were on a six-match winless run, including back-to-back defeats against Police and Posta Rangers and had scored only two goals in the six matches.

However, the match’s first attempt came in the 10th minute when Austin Odongo laid the ball to Wycliffe Omondi, who shot wide.
As the match progressed towards the half-hour mark, Shabana kept pushing for a goal, but Bidco, who had resorted to packing the midfield and defending deep with Christopher Raila, who was making his full debut being instrumental in midfield.
Nevertheless, no team either pushed hard enough or was sharp enough to take the lead before halftime.
In the second half, Shabana increased the tempo and urgency even further and got their reward in the 55th minute when captain Mike Okolla stepped up to convert from the spot after Bidco had handled the ball in the box.
With the goal, the trajectory of the match shifted with Shabana largely sitting back to protect their lead and preferring to hit Bidco on the counter as the Oilers pushed more bodies forward.
The Glamour Boys had a chance to double their lead, but Victor Otieno shot wide in the 75th minute after he got on the end of a counterattack.
In the end, Shabana secured three vital points that took them to third on the league table with 18 points while Bidco remain 10th with 13 points as their winless run extends to seven games.
