Nyabuto, who has scored three goals so far, managed to hit the back of the net eleven times last season to inspire Shabana to promotion to the top flight.
Shabana striker Vincent Nyabuto believes that the club will easily navigate through the murky waters of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League if they master the art of defending as a unit.
The Kisii-based club has failed to replicate the form displayed in the National Super League at the highest level and finds themselves just a place above the red zone.
Shabana were pearless in the second tier and would clinch the title last season with a few matches to spare, and as a result, they gained promotion alongside Murang'a Seal.
However, they have been struggling to register positive results, as the club has won twice in twelve rounds and drawn four times.
Nyabuto said the team stood a chance of achieving a respectable finish if the players took more responsibility, especially in defending.
"If we fix our defence, then we will be good to go. We can't afford to leave the defensive work to the rear men alone. We have to embrace the culture of defending as a unit," said the striker.
Earlier in the season, Shabana made headlines for the wrong reasons after conceding late goals in four home matches and dropping points as a result of it.
Nyabuto feels that there is still work to be done in the department that has let in eighteen goals, two less from Sofapaka and four from Nairobi, who have the worst defensive records.
Meanwhile, the former AFC Leopards youth team player disclosed his target of hitting double digits this season.
Nyabuto, who has scored three goals so far, managed to hit the back of the net eleven times last season to inspire Shabana to promotion to the top flight.
"I am looking forward to adding more league goals. The main goals are to reach double digits and help the team retain its top-flight status," he said.
