The club is set to become FC Talanta women's side

Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League side Bungoma Queens have ended their engagement with FKF Premier League outfit Nzoia Sugar after four months in the union.

Bungoma who earned promotion to the top flight this season got into a partnership with the Millers at the start of the season in line with the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) directive on men's teams having women’s side in order to participate in the top tier.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Queens chairman Erick Wafula confirmed that the team had parted ways with the sugar men without shedding more light, “we ended our engagement with Nzoia and we wish both parties well,” he said.

He further pointed out that the move was necessary as the team had secured a better offer elsewhere that could not be turned down, “It was all in good faith, we felt it was the right move for the club since we needed to discontinue in order to get in talks with another entity,” he added.

When pinned down, the club boss opened up confirming that the team is locked in negotiations with the Kenya Academy of Sports over a potential takeover which as per Wafula, once completed the FKFWPL debutants will enjoy massive benefits from the entity.

We are in negotiations with the Kenya Academy of Sports, this is a deal that all of us at the club are on our knees to see it succeed as it brings life to our side,” offered Wafula.

Should an agreement be reached, they are going to offer full support to the club. We cannot speculate now but what we are sure about is that players' welfare will be taken care of, our match day logistics are going to be sorted and many more that we will disclose on the unveiling day.”

The football administrator highlighted that the new partnership is a morale booster to the Queens who are currently fourth on the log with 10 points from six matches and believes with optimal working conditions, Bungoma can dream of league glory in their maiden season.

Furthermore, the move will see Bungoma become the Football Kenya Federation Premier League side FC Talanta women's team. The Ken Kenyatta-coached side are the only outfit in the ongoing league campaign without a women's team entity.

We are going to work with FC Talanta going forward, that’s part of the agreement with the Kenya Sports Academy,” he concluded.
