With last night's hat-trick, the Guinean broke as many as four records, becoming one of the most lethal Barcelona's rivals

In the past three decades, Africa has presented world football with numerous fantastic forwards who will forever be remembered as legends. Mohamed Salah, Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba, Sadio Mane, Emmanuel Adebayor, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nwankwo Kanu, and George Weah are some of the most outstanding among them, but that elite group of players last night got another member - Serhou Guirassy.

Although his magnificent display and hat-trick against Barcelona weren't rewarded with an advancement to the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona eliminated Borussia Dortmund despite the Bundesliga side's win (3-1) thanks to the first-leg victory (4-0). However, the Catalans will remember the Guinean as one of their most lethal rivals.

Namely, Guirassy became the first African player to score a hat-trick against Barcelona as well as the player with the most goals scored against the Spanish side in a single UCL campaign (5). Apart from the quarter-final clashes, the two teams also met in the league phase last December. Barca triumphed in Dortmund 3-2, as Guirassy netted a brace.

Nevertheless, the list of the striker's broken records does not end there.

Last night, he became the first BVB player to bag 13 goals in a UCL season, outscoring Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland, who both reached ten goals.

Finally, Guirassy is officially the African player with most goals in one Champions League campaign, and this achievement becomes even more superb when you realize which legends the Guinean left behind.

And one day, when he hangs up his boots, he'll undoubtedly join all of the players mentioned above on a pedestal of African football and it will be well deserved.
