Save Arsenal for last: EPL leaders are about to take down the Seagulls for the perfect closure of 2022

Mikel Arteta's boys are five points ahead of the top contenders, Manchester City, looking to increase the lead in the last seconds of the year

If there are decisive moments that draw the line and separate good from the sides of the championship ilk, then Arsenal's 3-1 win against West Ham on Monday is one of those milestones in a nutshell.

The Gunners were one goal down and looking nervous against the Hammers before coming from behind for a statement win. It proved how good Mikel Arteta's side is, not only in terms of football qualities but also mentally.

To put a perfect end to a year that saw them finally reaching the top of the Premier League table, the Londoners now ought to win the last match of 2022 at Brighton on Saturday night.

Only a few hours before New Year's Eve, the Gunners will try to knock down the Seagulls. De Zerbi's side is pushing good after the World Cup break and will be anything but a cakewalk for the table-toppers.

Asked about whether he's allowing players to dream about the title, Mikel Arteta said:

"They are allowed to do everything they want! What I tell them is that we have to focus on us, we cannot control what the opponents are going to do, how good they're going to become, or how many points they're going to earn or drop. So, we have to focus on our performance, on what we do every day and what has brought us here, which is not a coincidence, so we just need to keep doing what we're doing."
