Rosenior's Chelsea take off with five in the back of the Charlton's net

A landslide 5-1 FA Cup win is just what the new Blues' boss needed at the beginning of his tenure
Liam Rosenior could hardly have asked for a cleaner start to life as Chelsea boss. His first game in charge ended with a convincing FA Cup win, as the Blues swept aside Charlton 5-1 to move into the fourth round and inject some calm into a tense Stamford Bridge atmosphere.
Chelsea were in control from the start, but it took a moment of quality to break the resistance. Teenager Jorrel Hato smashed in a stunning half-volley just before the break, giving Rosenior his first goal as the Blues' manager.

Tosin Adarabioyo made it 2-0 early in the second half, heading in from a set-piece, and although Charlton briefly raised their hopes through Miles Leaburn, Chelsea never really looked in danger.
Marc Guiu restored the two-goal cushion almost immediately, and Rosenior then showed his depth from the bench. Pedro Neto blasted in a fourth in added time before Enzo Fernandez wrapped it up with a late penalty to seal a scoreline that reflected Chelsea's dominance.
The night was not without tension, though. Away fans continued to protest against the club's ownership, and Rosenior stepped into a febrile environment for his debut. But his team kept their composure, controlled the ball, and gradually wore Charlton down with quality and depth.

For Rosenior, it was a textbook first chapter: a win, goals, young players delivering and senior stars finishing the job. Much tougher tests lie ahead - starting with Arsenal in midweek - but this was exactly the platform a new Chelsea manager needed.
