Cristiano Ronaldo is preparing to leave Saudi Arabia once again as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East, though this time the trip is related to an injury, his coach has confirmed.
Questions about the 41-year-old’s situation surfaced earlier this week when his private jet departed the country late on Monday night. Speculation quickly followed, but it was later clarified that Ronaldo had remained in Saudi Arabia after images emerged of him training alongside his teammates.
The Portuguese star has been dealing with a hamstring problem since Al-Nassr’s 3–1 victory over Al-Fayha on Saturday. Concerns are now growing over the severity of the muscle issue, especially with the upcoming World Cup on the horizon. Ronaldo currently earns a staggering £488,000 per day playing in the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking about the situation, Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus admitted the injury was worse than initially believed. "After tests, we see the injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo was more serious than expected," he explained on Friday. "Cristiano will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured."
The manager also revealed that Ronaldo will receive treatment in Madrid from his personal physiotherapist. "His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team".
Riyadh — where Ronaldo lives with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children — has recently been among the locations targeted by Iran, following the wave of attacks carried out by the United States and Israel that began on Saturday.
