Rodri charged for accusing referee of being in favour of Spurs

Manchester City midfielder didn't mince words too much after a recent 2-2 Premier League draw against Tottenham
Rodri has gone from midfield metronome to man in the dock.
The Manchester City star has been charged by the Football Association for misconduct after publicly questioning the neutrality of referee Robert Jones following City's fiery 2-2 draw against Tottenham earlier this month.
The flashpoint? Dominic Solanke's controversial goal - the one that flipped the script.
City were cruising at 2-0 at half-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 February. Total control. Total authority. Then came the moment that changed everything. Solanke bundled the ball home in the 53rd minute after appearing to kick through Marc Guehi's leg in the build-up - and the goal stood.
Spurs smelled blood. Twenty minutes later, it was 2-2.
Rodri did not hold back.
"I know we won too much and people don't want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral," he said post-match, frustration spilling over. "It's not fair because we work so hard."
The FA were listening...
While the charge does not quote his exact wording, Rodri is accused of acting in an "improper manner" by implying bias and questioning the integrity of a match official - a serious allegation in the eyes of English football's governing body.
He has until 18 February to respond.
The Spaniard insisted he rarely speaks about referees and respects their job, but suggested City have been on the wrong end of decisions repeatedly this season. "One game and another game and another game," as he put it.
For a team chasing another Premier League title, currently four points behind Arsenal, every detail matters. Every whistle. Every marginal call.
Now, instead of focusing solely on the title race, City must deal with a disciplinary storm of their own - sparked by a draw, a goal, and a comment that crossed the FA's red line.
