If the Spaniard indeed extends his contract with the Saints, several teams that have been keen on him, Man United in the first place, may be disappointed

Many rumors have surfaced recently about Luis Enrique and his potential departure from Parc des Princes. Still, according to The Telegraph, the Spaniard is going nowhere, as he is on the verge of extending his deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Several clubs, Manchester United being the most serious, wanted Enrique on their benches and hoped he would leave the Saints, but, as it stands for now, their desires won't become reality.

The strategist's current contract expires in June 2027, and The Telegraph claims he is close to signing a new one until 2029, with the option for a further year, thus closing the door on all speculation about his exit from PSG.

The 55-year-old took over the Parisians in July 2023 and transformed a squad with a bunch of superstars (Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar) into a genuine team where only the rare are first among equals and where everyone has their specific role.

He initiated PSG's shift from a club with lavish rosters to one with young, talented, and high-quality individuals, whom he blended into a team.

Enrique established players like Desire Doue, Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Bradley Barcola as some of the best in European football at the moment, while his work with Ousmane Dembele was particularly exceptional.

Under the Spanish strategist, the Frenchman went from a spoiled, injury-prone kid at Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona to a Ballon d'Or winner and the key figure of the current Saints' squad.

The crown of his work in Paris came last season when PSG won their maiden Champions League trophy. This season, they’ve reached the UCL semi-finals, where they’ll face Bayern Munich, and are very close to defending the throne.

During his stint in Paris, Enrique won 10 trophies, though that number will almost certainly be increased after the current campaign.

Before the reigning European champions, he led AS Roma, Celta Vigo, Barcelona (and their B team), and the Spain national team.
