As sportsmanlike as it gets. Hats off to the Portuguese!
In a European blockbuster clash, Paris Saint-Germain easily brushed aside Liverpool 2-0 last night, though the impression is that the Reds were lucky to lose by only a two-goal margin, as the Saints could have scored at least three more goals.
And while everyone at Anfield will try to forget the match at Parc des Princes as soon as possible and focus on the return leg scheduled for next Tuesday in which the Premier League side will be in for "damage control", trying to save what can be saved, one of Liverpool's youngsters will remember the match in Paris for the rest of his life.
Trey Nyoni, the 18-year-old defender, who made 12 appearances for the Reds this season, clocking about 20 minutes per game, reportedly talked to PSG's Vitinha in the tunnel before the game and agreed to swap shirts with him once the duel was over.
Given that the game was fierce and full of excitement, even the youngster forgot about the deal, staying after the match with the rest of Liverpool's reserves to do the warm-down session.
Nyoni may have forgotten, but Vitinha did not.
Still wearing the promised jersey and in slides on his feet, the Portuguese patiently stood by the sideline for 20 minutes, waiting for the defender to finish his practice. When he eventually appeared, they shook hands and did the swap.

Once again: Vitinha, one of the key players of the current European champion, PSG, and the guy worth over €100 million, waited for a kid who clocked 25 UCL minutes this season, just to give him the jersey and fulfill the promise he had made!
Class act, noble gesture, sportsmanlike move - call it as you wish. Bottom line is that the Portuguese showed that he's not only an exceptional player but also, more importantly, an amazing and generous human being.
Hats off, Vitinha!
