3K, in only their second season in the second tier, will be aiming to make it two home wins in succession and build momentum after an encouraging start to the campaign.
The National Super League enters its final day of round four action on Sunday, 26 October, with five mouthwatering fixtures set to light up venues across the country as the race for early dominance intensifies.
The headline clash unfolds at Embu Stadium, where 3K FC play host to second-placed Mombasa United in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
3K, in only their second season in the second tier, will be aiming to make it two home wins in succession and build momentum after an encouraging start to the campaign.
The Embu-based side registered their first victory of the season a fortnight ago, stunning Darajani Gogo 1–0, before settling for a goalless draw against FC Talanta last weekend.
Under coach Francis Chege, 3K have collected four points from three outings following an opening-day 2–1 loss to Nzoia Sugar.
Victory on Sunday would see them rise to seven points, five shy of leaders Migori Youth FC.
However, standing in their path is a confident Mombasa United, who have enjoyed a perfect start under the experienced Gilbert Selebwa.
The coastal outfit has won all three of their opening matches, claiming 1–0 victories over Naivas and Fortune Sacco followed by a 2–1 triumph against Luanda Villa, and will be eager to maintain their 100 percent record.
Selebwa will again rely on the sharp form of forward Nehemiah Onchiri, who has netted three times this season and remains central to United’s attacking threat.
A win would take Mombasa United joint top with Migori Youth on 12 points.
The two sides have met twice before since 3K’s debut season, with the Embu club unbeaten after drawing 1–1 away in Mombasa before claiming a 2–0 win in the reverse fixture.
This sets the stage for a highly charged contest as 3K aim to preserve their dominance while United look to finally break the jinx.
At Vapour Grounds, Nairobi City Stars will be chasing a third straight victory when they welcome Kibera Black Stars.
Coach Salim Babu’s men have rebounded impressively after an opening-day defeat to MOFA, notching back-to-back 1–0 wins over Luanda Villa and Kabati Youth.
Babu, who also heads Kenya’s under-20 side, will look once more to in-form striker Francis Amunike, who has scored in consecutive matches to propel City Stars into early promotion contention.
Victory would move City Stars to nine points, keeping them firmly in the chase for a swift return to the FKF Premier League.
But they face a formidable opponent in Black Stars, who have also hit form with two consecutive 1–0 victories, first over Kisumu All Stars and then against MOFA, courtesy of a stunning long-range strike from Brian Odhiambo.
Their past top-flight meetings have been closely contested, and Sunday’s tie promises to be no different as both sides seek to extend their fine runs.
At Sudi Stadium, Nzoia Sugar FC will be out to end a two-match winless streak when they face FC Talanta.
Coach Charles Odero’s charges squandered a 2–0 lead to draw 2–2 against Mwatate United before being held to a goalless stalemate by Fortune Sacco.
The millers sit on five points and will be desperate to reignite their campaign in front of home fans.
FC Talanta, meanwhile, are searching for their first win in nearly a month.
After defeating Kibera Black Stars on opening day, they fell 1–0 to Migori Youth and were held to a draw by 3K.
The fixture has a history of close affairs, with four draws in their last six meetings, suggesting another cagey battle awaits in Bungoma.
At Moi Stadium, Kisumu, newly promoted Soy United begin their second stint in the NSL against Kisumu All Stars.
Soy, back in the second tier after four years away, earned promotion after edging Bumbani Stars 1–0 in the Division One playoff earlier this month.
Under new coach Jeffer Odongo, the former Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB assistant, the club will look to start strong in familiar territory.
Victory would provide a perfect launchpad for Soy, who still have two matches in hand following a delayed start to their season due to court proceedings.
However, hosts Kisumu All Stars, winless in their opening two matches, will be fighting to avoid a third consecutive defeat.
Coach Billy Agai is under pressure to inspire a turnaround and lift his side from the foot of the standings.
In the final fixture, Luanda Villa SC welcome Kabati Youth to Mumboha Grounds in a clash of winless sides desperate for a breakthrough.
Villa return home after two straight away trips, hoping home advantage will finally tilt fortune their way.
Coach Leonard Swaleh will urge his side to capitalize on their fortress reputation to collect their first maximum points of the campaign.
Debutants Kabati Youth, led by Joe Mungai, have shown flashes of promise despite two defeats and a draw in their opening fixtures.
Both teams will view this as a golden opportunity to spark their seasons into life, setting up what should be a tightly contested affair in Luanda.
All matches kick off at 3:00 p.m. across various venues.
