Ingwe twice took the lead through Kelly Madada and Ugandan forward Samuel Sseeyonjo, but on both occasions, they were pegged back by Rangers’ striker Eliud Lokuwam and Jackson Dwang.
The clash, which came just an hour after Sofapaka’s duel with Kakamega Homeboyz at the same venue, lived up to its billing as a fiercely contested affair.
Leopards, desperate to finally break their winless run, looked the brighter of the two sides in the opening exchanges.
Victor Otieno came close in the 10th minute but was denied by Rangers’ custodian Frederick Odhiambo, while Ronald Sichenje also threatened with a curling effort moments later.
The early pressure bore fruit in the 20th minute when Madada, latching onto Sichenje’s precise delivery, coolly slotted home to give Leopards the lead.
Rangers, however, quickly regrouped and almost equalised through Maxwell Odada before eventually drawing level in the 33rd minute.
Dwang’s teasing set-piece sailed in with Lokuwam playing a role in it as his attempted header threw Leopards goalkeeper James Ssetuba off balance. .
After a 1-1 stalemate at halftime, Leopards again came out strong.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 50th minute when Sseeyonjo pounced on Sichenje’s corner to restore the lead.
Yet, just as the Leopards faithful began to believe their elusive first victory was finally within reach, Rangers struck again.
Lokuwam capitalised on hesitant defending to slot home his second from close range after another dangerous Dwang corner in the 78th minute.
Leopards pushed forward relentlessly in the dying minutes, with substitutes Elias Mugane and James Kinyanjui spearheading desperate attacks.
But a disciplined Rangers backline, marshalled by Benard Odhiambo and Faustin Ojiambo, stood firm to preserve their unbeaten run.
The result leaves Leopards still searching for their first triumph of the season, a reality that will pile further pressure on coach Fred Ambani and his charges.
Rangers, on the other hand, stretched their unbeaten run to three games, underscoring their growing reputation as one of the toughest sides to break down this term.
