Brian Otieno Chonjo’s 30th-minute strike made all the difference, handing interim coach Collins 'Korea' Omondi a perfect start to life in charge after replacing Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo earlier in the week.
Before Monday’s win, the Mailmen had last tasted victory in mid-October when they defeated Shabana 2-1 to briefly go to the top of the standings.
Since then, they fell to Gor Mahia, Sofapaka and Kakamega Homeboyz and picked up draws against Mara Sugar, Kenya Police and Murang’a Seal.
Bidco, meanwhile, also entered the match on a poor run of form, winless in their previous five games, a streak that has now stretched to six following this latest setback.
The maximum points lift Posta back into the title conversation.
They now sit fourth on 16 points, just three behind joint-leaders Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz.
Bidco dropped to ninth with 13 points from 11 matches.
Match Report
The match began at a slow pace, with Posta looking to dictate the tempo early.
Their intent was clear in the ninth minute when Brian Marita and Caleb Olilo combined neatly, almost giving the Mailmen an early goal.
Bidco nearly gifted Posta the opener in the 19th minute when Brian Yakhama squared the ball to Chonjo, but the midfielder dragged his shot wide.
Two minutes later, Leon Omija picked up a loose ball on the right side of Vincent Wasambo and fired towards goal, but his effort rose over the bar, denying Posta another promising chance.
Bidco’s plans took a blow in the 25th minute when they were forced into an early substitution.
Meshack Nyabinge came on for David Kalama, who picked up an injury while contesting an aerial ball.
Posta eventually broke the deadlock in the 30th minute.
Faustine Ojiambo floated a long free-kick from deep, Yakhama held it up brilliantly, and then teed up Chonjo, who brought the ball under control and calmly slotted past Issa Emuria to give Korea’s men the lead.
The goal injected fresh energy into Posta. Minutes later, Yakhama nearly doubled the advantage after beating his marker, but Emuria reacted sharply to pluck the rising shot.
Posta went into the break 1-0 up after a first half that featured few clear-cut chances but was largely tilted in their favour.
Bidco came out stronger in the second half, controlling the midfield while Posta increasingly relied on long balls to relieve pressure.
Coach Anthony Akhulia made two early substitutions, bringing in Amos Okoth and Daniel Kaikai for Ben Muna and Dennis Murunga.
The Oilers almost levelled in the 55th minute when Kevin Ouma’s header from a free-kick drifted just wide.
The chance sparked more urgency, and Bidco began to camp in Posta’s half.
With the pressure growing, Korea withdrew goalscorer Chonjo for Elvis Noor.
The match became increasingly physical, with Okoth and Kevin Juma going into the referee’s book.
In the 69th minute, Posta nearly doubled the lead when Leon Omija collected a pass from Olilo after a swift move from the right flank, but his shot was blocked, and Marita’s follow-up was intercepted.
Bidco pushed for greater creativity, replacing Herman Ngala with Daniel Musamali.
Posta responded by refreshing their legs, bringing in Eliud Lokuwam and Musa Mohammed for Olilo and Wasambo.
Akhulia made further changes as Clinton Asiago replaced Jacob Onyango in search of a breakthrough.
Posta then introduced Dimpol Omama and Maxwell Odada to help see out the game.
Despite dominating possession in the closing minutes, the Oilers could not find a way through the compact Posta defence and were forced to settle for their fourth defeat of the campaign.
Posta, meanwhile, walked away with a vital win and a perfect start under their new coach.
