Silibwet are winless in four matches since the start of the season
Silibwet Leons tactician Mark Otieno Asa has admitted to be under pressure following the poor start of life in the 2023-2024 Football Kenya Federation National Super League.
The former FKF Division Two champions who were busy in the transfer window sit at the rock bottom of the log and are among the teams still waiting for first win in the campaign.
Silibwet have played four games in which they have only managed to collect a point after playing to a 1-1 all draw against former Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Kisumu All Stars in their opening clash.
The team lost the second round 2-0 to visiting Kibera Black Stars before falling 6-0 to Naivas in round three.
Last weekend, Silibwet fell again after bowing 4-1 to Mara Sugar FC at the Silibwet Green Stadium.
The soft-spoken former coach Mwatate United says the team paid for the mistake they made against Mara heaping more pressure on the technical bench.
“We played well against the millers. If only we had utilized all the chances that we created I believe we would have emerged victorious. My players had outclassed our challengers in every aspect until they started scoring and it changed everything that’s football, you are punished by making a mistake and you win by utilizing the chances that you get,” he said.
He added, “Our mission now is to go back to the drawing board and work on scoring because I trust the forwards are capable of finding the back of the net in order for us to start collecting three points. This week we are going to work have an intense training session as we prepare for battles ahead,” added the expert
Otieno believes he has good young players that are able to produce positive results before the end of the first leg as well as fight for top flight status.
