The medics have set December as the earliest time for him to be fully ready for playing time at competitive level
Nairobi City Stars attacking midfielder Pius Omachi is glad to have resumed training after healing from double injury that kept him out of competitive football last season.
Omachi underwent surgery on his left knee in April to repair both the Anterior Cruciate Ligament and meniscus and months later, he is happy to have to be nearing full recovery.
The injury saw him play just a single game in his first season with Simba wa Nairobi as he debuted on 5th February against Gor Mahia, coming off the bench to replace Andrew Kisilu.
The attacking midfielder resumed training last week, giving him the hope of contesting for playing time once he is done with the full rehabilitation process and rediscovers his form.
Ordinarily, torn knee ligaments keep players out for close to a year but for Omachi, he is glad to have recovered on time.
"I am happy to to be back on the pitch after a long battle with injuries. It has not been easy for me on the sidelines but I am glad to have started training," he disclosed.
Omachi joined Simba wa Nairobi in July last year from Vapor Sports. His teammate at Vapor Newton Ochieng also joined the Kawangware based club at the same time.
The former Dagoretti High School player revealed that the medic has set December as the earliest time for him to be fully ready for playing time at the competitive level.
"I have been given two months by the doctor and physiotherapist to work on my full recovery and fitness. I haven't experienced any sort of pain in the days I have done light training," he added.
City Stars are set to face record Kenyan champions Gor this weekend.
