The tactician is being linked with a return to the mailmen.

Former Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi has been linked with a return to Posta Rangers after the dismissal of Salim Ali, Mozzart Sport has established.

Ali was shown the door last week after the 2-1 loss to Kenya Police FC at the Kasarani Annex. His assistant Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi was handed the team for the remaining two matches of the season. The first ended in a 2-1 defeat to Wazito FC on Thika on Saturday.

Okumbi, who stepped down from the position in February could be set for a sensational return to the mailmen. When he resigned, the club explained that the tactician was heading to Germany to further his studies for six months before making a comeback to the club but it appears that did not leave the country and has often been spotted in the stadia watching matches.

A source from the mailmen's camp has intimated that the tactician could be heading back to the team ahead of the 2022/23 season.

“There is a chance that he will be returning to the team. His technical bench is still intact and there have been initial talks over the possibility of him returning to team. But nothing has been signed yet and we understand that he has offers from other teams and so it is a waiting game, let’s see what happens in the coming weeks but the job is his to take,” the source revealed.

The seasoned tactician has previously handled Kariobangi Sharks, Mathare United, Harambee Stars, Kenya U23 and Kenya U20 teams. In 2020 he lead the Kenya U20 team to the Cecafa U20 finals where they lost to Tanzania.
