Kenyan striker Ryan Ogam could be set for a revival at Wolfsberger AC following a major coaching shake-up at the Austrian side.

The club has appointed Thomas Silberberger as their new head coach, replacing Ismail Atalan, who was dismissed after a poor run of results.

Silberberger arrives with the immediate task of steering WAC away from relegation danger, with the club currently sitting just four points above the drop zone in the Austrian Bundesliga.

For Ogam, the managerial change could not have come at a better time.

The Kenyan forward endured a frustrating spell under Atalan, who was appointed in November 2025.

During his brief and difficult tenure, Atalan managed just one win in 13 matches, losing eight and drawing three.

Ogam failed to make a single senior appearance in that period and was instead relegated to the youth team.

With a new coach now at the helm, the 21-year-old attacker will be hoping for a clean slate and a chance to prove himself in the first team during the crucial final stretch of the season.

In confirming the appointment, the club expressed confidence in Silberberger’s ability to turn things around.

"The succession has been decided: Thomas Silberberger takes charge of the team with immediate effect. With his experience, he is expected to halt the poor run of results and secure the club’s place in the Bundesliga," read part of the club statement.

WAC also confirmed that club president Dietmar Riegler informed Atalan of his dismissal in a meeting on Easter Monday, with the decision driven by the team’s prolonged poor form.

Silberberger, 52, brings a wealth of experience, having spent over a decade at WSG Tirol, where he guided the club from the lower divisions to the Bundesliga and even into the championship group. He most recently coached Admira Wacker, narrowly missing out on promotion last season.

He is expected to lead his first training session immediately as he begins the task of reviving the Wolves’ season.
