Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada is yet to make a top-flight appearance for Philadelphia Union eight months since joining the team in August 2022 from Serbia's Red Star Belgrade

Instead, the former AFC Leopards has had to play for Philadelphia Union II in the MLS Next Pro, the reserve league of the Major League Soccer.

On Monday morning, Odada featured the whole length of the match as Philadelphia Union II beat Chicago Fire II 2-1 for their first win of the campaign.

In the match, Missael Rodríguez opened the scoring early in the first half for Chicago Fire II but Union II hit scored two goals in a span of ten minutes courtesy of Brandan Craig and David Vazquez in the second half to take maximum points in the game.

The tenacious defensive midfielder joined the 2020 MLS Supporters' Shield champions on a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option for a third and fourth year in August last year after struggling to nail down a place in the Red Star Belgrade first XI.

Since then, he is yet to make an appearance in the MLS regular season and has only been used for the reserve team thrice this season.

Additionally, he was sparingly used during pre-season which might explain his continued absence in the main team.

However, that did not stop him from putting a decent display when he played in midfield for Kenya in the friendly match against Iran in March, but continued first-team experience at Philadelphia will come in handy for future engagements.
