The defender picked the injury in April while in action against Tusker.

Former national U20 team right back Moses Mudavadi is expected to belatedly undergo knee surgery this week at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

The rain began beating the Nzoia right back in April while he was in action against Tusker at the Sudi Stadium, a game that ended sourly for him as he damaged his left knee meniscus.

The extent of the damage to the knee wasn’t grave after the game, as the player tried alternative means and, at the same time, carried on with the subsequent club duties, aggravating the injury further.

Scans conducted later on the knee exposed a tear that necessitated a date with the surgeon.

I am supposed to be operated on this week in Eldoret. I picked up the injury in our game against Tusker, but the pain was manageable back then. I continued training, but at some point, the pain became unbearable and I had to do some scans,” he said.

Asked on the reason for the delayed surgery, Mwale pointed out financial challenges, as the medical procedure ordinarily costs an arm and leg.

There were challenges, including financial. I am however glad that I will see the surgeon and start the journey to full recovery,” added the player, who is a sibling to KCB left back Harun Mwale.

The absence of Mwale, who has been the first choice right back at Nzoia, forced the technical bench to look for options during the off-season transfer window.

Further, Nzoia were dealt a blow after Kevin Maliachi who aptly deputized Mwale, joined FC Talanta.

The club reunited with Brian Wepo who joined from Sofapaka in the off-season transfer window.

Coach Godfrey Oduor however, re-moulded Elisha Wekesa from a forward to a right back. The latter has since cemented his place in the first team.
