With Nyaberi departure, Mara’s assistant coach Godfrey Naibei will be in the dugout when the Millers take on Gusii FC at Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday.

On 6th November 2023, a new dawn started at National Super League club Mara Sugar with Vincent Nyaberi being named the new man at the helm to replace Francis Xavier who had just left the club for Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Sofapaka.

Nyaberi, who had led Murang’a Seal to the FKF Premier League the previous season 2022-2023, was handed the same responsibilities at the Millers and had an incredible start to life in Narok, as he won two matches to end the club's winless run that had extended to three games.

However, in an unforeseen turn of events, it emerged that the former Shabana FC gaffer had ditched the sugar men for Mully Children Family FC who early this week parted ways with coach Robert Orangi after a series of poor performances.

The move has not been welcomed by Mara's faithfuls as well as members of the management with some showing publicly their displeasure with the experienced coach's decision to depart the club barely three weeks after his confirmation.

Nyaberi, who has also confirmed moving to MCF, who are bottom of the league has offered his reasons for leaving the club noting that he had no contract binding him with the team

My commitment to Mara has been 100%. I did want to go on. Coaching is a bit like marriage where you need commitment from both sides.”

“It has been three weeks since I joined Mara Sugar, I have won two games for them in that period but funny enough I had no contract at the club, this is a Limited Company, how can you work without a contract and count yourself employed?” He posed.

“Some people at the club never wanted me, despite finishing in a pole position to take over, someone was keen to give the chance to Tom Juma, had he not rejected the financial offer of Ksh 28,000 that was on the table then he was going to be the next Mara manager.”

The expert who was speaking exclusively to Mozzart Sport added “Mara are not offering a good contract and that tempted me to move to MCF who had a better offer on the table.” Nevertheless, the tactician has some words of encouragement to his former bosses.

Sometimes you go in the bank and blow it up but you don’t come out with the money and that’s my situation at Mara, I wish them all the very best as they continue with the season but they put their house in order to if they want success that they are dreaming of.” He stated.

With Nyaberi departure, Mara’s assistant coach Godfrey Naibei will be in the dugout when the Millers take on Gusii FC at Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday.
