Neto explains Muhoroni's poor form, hopes to see turnaround

Muhoroni have won just one game this season, losing five

Veteran Muhoroni Youth striker Collins Neto has termed the FIFA International break a breath of fresh air to the struggling team.

Before the break, Muhoroni had gone for five matches without a win, with three of those being losses to FC Talanta, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Bidco United.

Neto attributed the dismal performance in the league to fatigue resulting from the long travels to Nairobi for fixtures, and the energy used to survive relegation last season.

Neto and nearly all his colleagues were attached to Wazito last season, an outfit that was later rebranded as Muhoroni after surviving relegation in the promotion / relegation playoff.

Wazito beat National Super League side Migori Youth 3-0 in the playoff to hold on to their top-flight status.

Neto said the long trips to Nairobi, coupled with the difficult ending in last season, have taken a toll on the players fitness, resulting in the bad run.

He, however, noted that the two-week-long break helped the team relieve fatigue, and address their other weaknesses.

"The team has been struggling due to fatigue. Nearly all the players we had last season at Wazito have been starting their matches. We didn't have fresh legs in the transfer window and had a limited break after last season. We have been traveling a lot as well. The break gave us space to rest," said the experienced striker.

Overall, Muhoroni have won once, drawn five times, and lost a similar number of matches. The team has scored four times and conceded thirteen.

Out of the five goals scored, Neto accounts for three of them, with the majority of them coming from the spot.

The former Bidco forward has pledged to add more goals and see the club rise from the red zone before the end of the first leg.

"I am definitely aiming for more goals. We haven't been scoring enough as a team, but I believe the drills we had will bear fruit," said the former Zoo FC player.

Muhoroni are expected to host defending champions Gor Mahia this weekend in Kisumu.
