After a two-week hiatus that paved way for the Mozzart Bet Cup and marked the conclusion of the first leg, the FKF National Super League (NSL) breaths back to life on Saturday, 14 February, with three tantalising fixtures ushering in the decisive second half of the campaign, a fitting Valentine’s weekend treat for football enthusiasts.

At Gems Cambridge, the headline act of the day pits promotion hopefuls Soy United against fellow ambitious side Kibera Black Stars in a clash loaded with implications at the top end of the table.
The Eldoret-based Soy United head into the encounter riding on a remarkable seven-match unbeaten streak, a run that has propelled them to sixth on 32 points, just five behind leaders Migori Youth.
It is a resurgence that has reignited belief within their ranks and firmly placed them in the thick of both the promotion and title conversation.
Under the stewardship of Jeff Odongo, the side has shown resilience and attacking enterprise in equal measure.
Their most recent outing, a hard-fought draw against Migori, demonstrated tactical discipline against one of the league’s benchmark teams.
Yet, Odongo will demand more as they seek to convert momentum into maximum returns and stretch their unbeaten sequence to eight matches.
The club’s intent was equally evident during the recently concluded transfer window.
Reinforcements arrived in numbers and quality, including Evans Maliachi from APS Bomet, Victor Maliachi from Nzoia Sugar, Kevin Owidi from Kisumu All Stars, goalkeeper Morgan Alube Ambuka, and former Kariobangi Sharks winger Moses Shikanda.
The acquisitions underline Soy’s seriousness in fortifying their promotion credentials. However, an underlying concern persists, their troubling away form. With only one win on the road so far this season, Soy face a stern psychological and tactical test.
If they are to mount a genuine push for the automatic slots, rewriting that narrative becomes imperative.
Standing in their way is an equally determined Kibera Black Stars side. Sitting eighth on 27 points, ten adrift of the summit and five behind Soy, the Kibera-based outfit knows that victory would significantly tighten the promotion race.
Coached by Iddi Badi, Kibera enter the second leg seeking renewal after a three-match winless spell that slightly dented their upward momentum. Backed by Rubis Energy, the Black Stars are eager to rediscover their cutting edge.
Their last victory, a 2-1 triumph over Luanda Villa on 11 January, feels distant, and the urgency to reassert themselves is palpable.
There is also an element of revenge: the first leg ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Soy in Eldoret, a result they are keen to overturn.
The permutations are enticing. A Soy victory could elevate them into the automatic promotion places on 35 points, narrowing Migori’s lead to just two.
For Kibera, three points would lift them to 30 and reignite a charge that has momentarily stalled. With ambition mirrored on both benches, the stage is set for a gripping contest.
Elsewhere at KIHBT Grounds, league debutants Equity FC host Naivas FC in another fixture heavy with consequence.
Equity, sitting fourth on 33 points, just two shy of the automatic promotion positions, have been one of the season’s most compelling stories. The bankers are unbeaten in four matches and are targeting a fifth consecutive game without defeat.
Coach John Kamara Mbezwa’s charges have blended youthful exuberance with tactical maturity, positioning themselves as serious contenders in their debut NSL campaign.
Victory would propel them to 36 points and potentially into third place, trimming Migori’s advantage to a single point and keeping both title and promotion dreams vividly alive.
Yet Naivas FC, despite occupying 12th spot on 24 points, remain a dangerous proposition.
The retailers endured a turbulent first leg that saw them slip into mid-table obscurity, but their history speaks of near misses, twice falling short in promotion/relegation play-offs.
Under pressure, coach Elvis Ayani views the second leg as a fresh canvas to revive their ambitions.
Notably, they held Equity to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture, proof that this duel may be tighter than standings suggest.
The day’s action concludes in Dandora, where former FKF Premier League side FC Talanta face bottom-placed Vihiga United in an early 11 a.m. kickoff defined by contrasting desperation.
Talanta, backed by the Communications Authority of Kenya, are intent on mounting a late surge toward an immediate return to the top flight.
A 1-0 victory over Darajani Gogo a fortnight ago provided renewed belief, and consistency will now be their rallying cry.
For Vihiga United, survival is the sole objective. Their spirited 2-1 win over Kibera Black Stars to close the first leg signalled defiance.
Coach Milton Kidiga will hope that result becomes a turning point rather than an isolated spark as they battle to climb out of relegation peril.
