The St. James' Park team splurged £69 million for the German's arrival, making him their most lavish acquisition in the club's 144-year-long history
The time has come! Nobody at Newcastle cares about Alexander Isak anymore, as the Magpies have finally found a replacement for the Swede. And not just any replacement, but arguably the best young striker Germany has at the moment and the scorer of 17 goals last season - Nick Woltemade.
Newcastle splurged £69 million for his arrival, making him the most lavish acquisition in the club's 144-year-long history. At the same time, Woltemade's now ex-team, Stuttgart, have become one of the biggest winners of the ongoing transfer window.

Namely, the Swabians brought the 23-year-old for free from Werder Bremen a year ago, and now they have earned a fortune.
As for the player himself and his development, it was also unbelievable. In the 2022/2023 season, Woltemade played for the German third-tier side Elversberg on loan from Werder, and recorded ten goals and nine assists, which convinced the Bremen side to give him a chance in the following season.
Still, his spell at Weser Stadium was subpar, as he netted only twice in 30 games, for which the club let him join Stuttgart for free. Now it's clear that it had made a horrible mistake.
Bayern Munich were also keen on the striker, but they offered "just" €55 million, allowing Newcastle to outbid them and "hijack" the player, who seemed extremely happy with the outcome of his "transfer saga," speaking to the Magpies' official website.
"I'm really happy to be at this amazing club. From the first contact, I felt like the club really wanted me and had big plans for me."

"It's a big step in my life to leave Germany but everybody has welcomed me so well and it already feels like family. I have a really good feeling from speaking to the head coach that this is the right place for me to find my best level."
"I know the stadium from watching games on television - it looks amazing and I know the atmosphere is crazy. I'm really excited to play and start scoring goals here."
