Newcastle secure a blockbuster move, can Isak go now?

German international will sign a contract with the Magpies for the record sum

The first of three conditions for Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool has been mate. Newcastle United finally found a striker, any striker. The Magpies currently have only one available to play (William Orsula), but for some reason, coach Eddie Howe doesn’t think he can start a Premier League game even thou he came in and scored against Liverpool. So, since their best striker came in and said he wants to go, the Magpies were pushing to sign another attacker, but the market was thin with strikers already. Newcastle tried to buy Jorgen Strand Larsen (25) from Wolverhampton, sent two official offers—the second close to 65,000,000 euros. and then, out of nowhere a real shock. Overnight, the Magpies changed course, shifted focus to Nick Woltemade (23), and completed the deal in record time.

One of the most sought-after German players has already said goodbye to his Stuttgart teammates and is ready to head to London for medicals, after which he will sign a five-year contract. According to reliable Florian Plettenberg, this will be Newcastle’s record signing—with 5,000,000 euros in bonuses included, the total value climbs to an astronomical 90,000,000—which will place the two-meter-tall “giant” from Bremen as the third-most expensive German footballer of all time. Only Florian Wirtz (125,000,000) and Kai Havertz (100,000,000 when moving from Leverkusen to Chelsea) are ahead of him.

"Shortly before the close of the summer transfer window, VfB Stuttgart have received an offer from a European club for the immediate transfer of Nick Woltemade. The terms of proposal led to the VfB club management releasing Nick Woltemade from training and match duties in order to hold talks with the interested party regarding a potential move. A decision on the matter is expected on Friday" read the club statement.

And while Newcastle was obviously forced to pay so much for a raw but still unproven talent (had only one good season in Germany) because the options on the transfer market were only a few, this decision and this transfer will pave the way for Isak to go to Liverpool. But only if the other two conditions are met. The first one is that Newcastle finds another striker as Woltemade is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson. So if the Magpies don’t sign Yoane Wissa or Jorgen Strand Larsen by September 1st, Isak will stay weather if he likes it or not. The third condition would be the price. Newcastle always said to Liverpool that the starting bid was 120 million pounds only to see Reds putting in 110. The price for Isak is around 150 million, and if the Premier League champion gets close to that sum and not 110, the deal might happen on the last day.
