The Naibois have a prefect start to the season having won two and drawn one match
Nairobi United and head coach Paul Okatwa are hoping to bounce back from last weekend draw to Silibwet Leons when they visit the on form Migori Youth at the Raila Odinga Homabay stadium on Saturday.
The match will be staged at the newly opened stadium after Migori were banished from hosting next five home matches at Migori Stadium following attacks on Darajani Gogo videographer two weeks ago when the two sides met in a National Super League fixture.
Speaking on Thursday, Okatwa, a former Kangemi All Stars coach downplayed last week stalemate to bottom of the Silibwet noting that it was bound to happen having stayed out of competitive action for two weeks.
The young gaffer is however optimistic of grabbing all the points away from home empathizing they are in the league to pick maximum points and make every game count as the Naibois seek an automatic elevation to top flight football at their first time of asking.
“We are in this league to compete and not to participate so we are heading to Migori for maximum points,” he noted.
“That draw was bound to happen because we were just from a two-week break because of court cases while Silibwet played two games during that period. However, we must recollect ourselves and I believe we are ready for the task against Migori Youth,” said Okatwa.
He added: “I know it will be a difficult match and that is why we have arrived early in Kisii to prepare for the game."
Okatwa also hailed his defense line for showing maturity in the matches played so far suggesting that they have been up to task keeping the league debutants in play in most of the matches. The Simon Maina powered club boast of the best defensive record in the league having conceded once in the three games.
“NSL is very demanding and physical and having the best league defensive record just shows how our defenders are good. They have kept us in matches since our debut and I am still going to count on them as the season progresses,” added the former Sofapaka net buster.
The Naibois had a light training session at the Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School ground in preparations for the highlight match of the weekend.
Nairobi United has won two games and drawn one in the league so far a performance that places them ninth on the log and will have a chance to scale into the promotion brackets with a win on Saturday.
