Waibi, 24, joined the top-tier debutants from Ugandan Premier League side NEC FC, making him the seventh name through the doors at Naibois during the January transfer window.
Nicknamed 'The Engineer', Waibi also becomes the third player to move to Nairobi United from NEC FC, joining Ugandan left back Mustapha Kizza and the recently acquired attacking midfielder Titus Ssematimba.
“We are delighted to officially announce the signing of Charles Waibi "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫",” Nairobi United posted on their social media handles on Thursday afternoon.

Born in 2002 in Jinja, Waibi has had quite the journey, dating back to his early days at Iganga Boys Primary School, the place his football dreams were ignited.
A graduate with a Civil Engineering degree, Waibi’s professional journey began five years ago at Kigezi HomeBoyz FC, which he joined during the 2021/22 season.
In his first season there, Waibi scored 10 goals and registered 15 assists, which were instrumental in the club’s promotion to the FUFA Big League
At the beginning of the 2024-2025 season, the Ugandan made a leap to NEC FC, and was influential in the team making a step to continental football.
Waibi, coincidentally, is not new to Nairobi United, as he was on target against them with NEC during last year’s CAF Confederation Cup second leg in Kenya that ended in a 1-1 draw.
That goal, and his overall quality, seems to have left a lasting impression on Naibois, who seem intent on making a mark in the Premier League, and continentally too.
