The teenager was scouted at the Chapa Dimba Rift Valley regional finals in Nakuru in November 2023 and has been training with the team since December.
“It’s all about giving chances to the young players which is our policy. He has the right qualities to operate on either side of the left channel as a defender or winger. We welcome him onboard,” said City Stars team coordinator Samson Otieno in an interview with the club.
Head coach Nicholas Muyoti termed the youngster as one of the promising talents whose contribution will help the team immensely.
“From what we have seen, he is a good lad and very promising. He has a lot of unique attributes as a left-footed player and is a very good addition to our setup. He is an asset with age on his side,” said the tactician.
Obusu on his part expressed pleasure after sealing a move that is definitely an upgrade in his career.
“I am greatly honored to have the opportunity to join Nairobi City Stars. It’s a big step and I wish to use this rare chance to showcase what I have to the benefit of the club,” he told club media.
Till the arrival of Obusu, City Stars left back department only had Dennis Decha Wanjala, and the experienced skipper Calvin Masawa who also operates as a right back.
Obusu will don jersey no. 24.
City Stars have been quiet in terms of transfers in the ongoing window with Obusu being the first player to join the team.
