Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has issued a stern warning to Nairobi United ahead of their midweek FKF Premier League encounter, vowing that his side will respond with purpose and intensity following their goalless draw with Shabana FC.

The result, Sharks’ third draw of the campaign, left Muluya encouraged by his team’s defensive improvement but hungry for a sharper attacking display.
“From here it’s just to push so that when we play against Nairobi United, we can score and win,” said Muluya.
“We showed flashes of what we can do against Shabana, and I believe the boys are ready to hit their stride.”
At the heart of the coach’s optimism is forward Markvivan Kesa, who continues to grow in confidence after netting in the Slum Derby win over Mathare United earlier in October.
Sharks’ 2025/26 campaign has been a rollercoaster so far.
They began with back-to-back goalless draws against Bandari FC and Ulinzi Stars, followed by a narrow 1–0 loss to KCB FC. A glimmer of promise appeared when they edged Mathare United 2–1 in the Slum Derby, courtesy of an own goal and a composed finish from Kesa.
However, inconsistency has since crept in, with 2–1 defeats to APS Bomet and Tusker FC before Saturday’s draw with Shabana FC.
Despite the mixed fortunes, Muluya drew confidence from the improved defensive performance against the Glamour Boys.
“We made a good stride in the game because, if you look at our previous matches, we conceded four goals in two games,” he explained.
"Against Shabana, we drew, and for me that shows our defence was solid.”
The coach credited his backline for staying composed under sustained second-half pressure from Shabana’s attack.
“I’m grateful for the one point because Shabana had plenty of scoring opportunities, especially in the second half,” Muluya noted.
Sharks now turn their focus to Nairobi United, who head into the fixture wounded from a 3–0 defeat to Sofapaka but remain a tricky opponent, having beaten Mara Sugar FC 1–0 and Kakamega Homeboyz 2–0, while narrowly losing 1–0 to Bidco United.
