The fixture marked six years since Muhoroni Youth last played in the country's top tier league and attracted a large crowd

Muhoroni Youth rallied from a goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw against visiting Nzoia Sugar FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) week two match played at Muhoroni Stadium on Friday.

The fixture marked six years since Muhoroni Youth last played in the country's top tier league and attracted a large crowd.

Dan Wafula grabbed a deserved opener for the Millers in the 38th minute, but Collins Neto leveled from the spot after a handball in the box.

"Nzoia Sugar capitalized on a defensive error to punish us for the first goal. The defender instead of shielding the ball out fumbled and got dispossessed leading to the goal," Muhoroni Youth coach Charles Odera said.

The former Chemelil Sugar FC player believes they could have won the match were it not for several missed chances.

"We need to sharpen our attack because the chances we lost were way too many."

He also raised the issue of match fitness, stating that some of his charges were sluggish.

"The forthcoming international break will give us adequate time to work on those areas of weakness."

On his part, new Nzoia Sugar FC coach Godfrey Oduor felt the penalty was a gift.

"It was a soft one, but they were at home and the moment favored them," Oduor said.

A point on the roads he says is acceptable at this point in the campaign. "Teams are still unpredictable so we will take the one point and look for more in the coming matches."
