Speedy winger Samy Gitahi, central midfielder Lynette Matheka and no-nonsense centre back Brian Odhiambo were unavailable for selection.

The absence of the three did not majorly disrupt the plan as the team edged Cape Media 1-0 in their opening match before securing a 2-1 victory over Africa Uncensored.

Mozzart Sport progressed to the quarterfinals, where they played out a goalless draw against Icon Radio.

The match was decided on penalties, with Mozzart Sport losing 2-1 in the shootout to exit the competition.

The tournament was held at Mashuuru Complex, with Mt. Kilimanjaro providing a scenic backdrop as media teams from across the country gathered to compete.

The event also featured prize money, with winners receiving Ksh 15,000.

The first and second runner-up got Ksh 10,000 and Ksh 5,000, respectively.

The team was captained by Imran Otieno, coached by Victor Karuga, with Patrick from the IT department serving as the team manager.

Karuga stepped in to lead the team in the absence of head coach Kevin Teya, who was away on personal commitments.

“It would have been good to win the trophy, but we are happy to have met with and engaged our colleagues from other media houses,” said coach Victor Karuga.

Radio Africa Group emerged as winners after beating Icon Radio 2-0 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in regulation time.

Apollo Ambani of Classic FM was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) and received a return flight ticket to either Mombasa or Kisumu.

Mashuuru director Victor Muli highlighted the scale of the event, noting that between 300 and 400 participants from various media houses attended the tournament.

Today has been an amazing day, having over 300 to 400 people here from media houses in Kenya. Awards have been won, emotions were high, celebrations have been amazing, and it was all fun,” he said.
