Goals from Yves Kuotima, Marvin Nabwire and a brace by Edward Ondimo ensured the Law Enforcers comfortably cruised into the Round of 16 as they kept alive their hopes of winning the domestic cup for the second time.

With the FKF Premier League title race seemingly slipping away, the cup competition now represented Police’s most realistic path to silverware and possible continental qualification.

Police made their intentions clear from the onset, seizing control of proceedings and striking early.

Barely two minutes into the contest, a well-delivered corner from Erick Zakayo found Kuotima, who rose highest to plant a powerful header past TBM goalkeeper Ernest Odhiambo.

The early goal energised the defending champions, who continued to pile pressure on the Kisumu-based outfit.

Ondimo nearly doubled the lead moments later after latching onto a long diagonal pass from David Odhiambo, but his close-range effort drifted narrowly wide.

Despite the early dominance of Nicholas Muyoti's charges, TBM gradually grew into the contest and began threatening on the counterattack.

Dickson Raila came close midway through the half, connecting with a delivery from David Onyango, but his header flashed wide.

The hosts eventually restored parity at the half-hour mark when Onyango capitalised on a well-worked move involving Regan Ochieng and Dennis Akumu to loop the ball past Police goalkeeper Daniel Ogembo.

However, their celebrations proved short-lived.

Police responded swiftly as Hernest Malonga launched a long throw that was flicked on by Jacques Geordy Ndecket, allowing Ondimo to head home and restore the visitors’ advantage before the break.

Police returned after halftime with renewed urgency and eventually put the game beyond reach in the closing stages.

Ondimo completed his brace with a brilliant solo effort, rounding the goalkeeper before calmly slotting home.

Substitute Marvin Nabwire then sealed the emphatic victory late on, tapping in from close range after being picked out by Ondimo to cap a dominant evening for the defending champions.

The result sees Kenya Police advance to the Round of 16, while TBM Health’s impressive maiden appearance in the competition comes to an end.
