In Mumias, 2023 Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz scored early to eliminate Samitsi
No FKF Premier League side suffered a shock exit from the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup on Sunday 9 March, as all sides advanced into the last 16.
Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars were the biggest winners of the afternoon matches, as they easily swept past their opposition, while Murang’a Seal yet again avoided elimination after looking so close to being bundled out.
The highlight fixture was in Dandora Stadium, where defending Premier League champions Gor Mahia wasted no time in dispatching Division Two side Githurai All Stars (GAS) 5-0 and setting up a tie with Bandari in the last 16.
Having been built up as a tight contest, K’Ogalo laughed that notion off by naming a strong lineup that seemed to toy with the opposition defense before taking the lead after just 22 minutes, and effectively running away with the tie in front of a delighted fanbase.
Who else to mark this occasion than Austin Odhiambo, who produced two curlers - one from a freekick that missed the head of Gedeon Bendeka and into the net - to give Gor a 2-0 lead inside 25 minutes.
Bendeka then got to the end of a Samuel Kapen shot that smacked the post to rebound in K’Ogalo’s third, and a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Half-time substitute Mark Shaban took just 10 minutes to also get into the action by turning in Kapen’s low cross from the right, with Alpha Onyango completing the rout from range late-on.

A similar performance was witnessed in Murang’a as Ulinzi Stars romped to a 6-0 victory over Jumbo T at St. Sebastian Park.
Meshack Karani got the Soldiers rolling in the first minute before adding his second at the half-hour mark of an emphatic second half that saw five goals scored, and a place in the last 16 all but secure.

In Embu however, Murang’a Seal repeated their Round of 64 escapades to reel in National Super League side Fortune Sacco to a 2-2 draw, before prevailing 4-3 on penalties.
Fortune, who led early through Joseph Odero, conceded a 52nd minute equalizer before going up again shortly after the hour-mark via debutant Thomas Onah.
Seal, who still had the muscle memory of ousting Gituru FC in the first round, however made it 2-2 with literally the last kick of the game from Joe Waithera, whose penalty ended up being the decider in a tense shoot-out.

2023 Cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz made no mess about their tricky tie with Samitsi FC, needing an early strike from Hillary Otieno, to also advance to the Round of 16.
Up next for them is a meeting with Shabana.
