MLS calling David Luiz

Arsenal defender might move across the Atlantic

Will the unpredictable Brazilian defender join Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi at David Beckham's Inter Miami? Or will he team up with Chicharito Hernandez in LA? He might end up with a third option... Regardless, with his Gunners contract expiring in a month or so, David Luiz is considering all options and offers.

Interestingly, Luiz owns a restaurant in London with his teammate (from both Chelsea and Arsenal) and compatriot Willian - that might have been the reason he did not move to a club further away and swapped Stamford Bridge for Emirates Stadium.

However, it looks like the creative defender is looking for pastures new and USA could be the next stop.

The 34-year-old centre-back and part-time defensive midfielder joined Arsenal two years ago, but due to various injuries he played only 62 games in all competitions.

CBS Sports reports state that David Luiz's agents are in talks with an MLS side and the player could depart to the United States after his Arsenal contract ends.

Allegedly, Luiz has also attracted interest from a Serie A team.

Coming to a closing stage of his career, Luiz would probably make the right move by playing for one of the clubs ‘across the pond’. His attractive style of play would bring the showmanship American audience is accustomed to.

His long-distance shot attempts and clever passes could deliver that wow-factor but also, as many times in his career, he could be responsible for game-changing mistakes that caused his teams to concede goals and occasionally lose matches.

In his career so far, Brazilian played for Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica in Europe. His most successful days were with the London Blues – he won the Champions League with them in 2012 as well as Europa League twice, in 2013 and 2019.

Luiz can still give solid performance in his remaining playing years. If he stays fit of course.
