Mita pledges to use top flight experience to help Mara Sugar secure promotion

Attacking midfielder Reuben Mita has vowed to use the experience he gained at Ulinzi Stars and fire National Super League (NSL) side Mara Sugar to automatic promotion in the new season.

Mita left Ulinzi a couple of weeks ago following the expiry of his year-long contract with the former league champions.

He has since secured a return to Mara whom he played for a couple of seasons before joining Ulinzi where he managed to taste top flight football.

The youthful player said he is banking on the experience he gained at Ulinzi and help Mara run away with one of the two promotion slots.

Mara were on course to achieve promotion last year but faded to a fourth place finish as Shabana, Murang'a Seal and Migori Youth proved stronger.

Shabana were promoted alongside Seal with Migori featuring in the promotion/relegation playoff against Wazito after finishing third.

"I learnt a lot in the past season with Ulinzi Stars and in the top flight. The lessons will definitely play a crucial role in my career and in achieving the ambitions I have. One of the goals I have is helping Mara secure promotion next season," he told Mozzart Sport.

Before joining Ulinzi, Mita was the best scorer for Mara in the 2021-2022 season with fourteen goals even though the season was eventually nullified.

He says he is fired up for the new season and will aim to not only be the club's top scorer but also, the best in the competition which is regarded as one of the toughest.

"I want to score as much as I can for the club. We have stayed in the second tier for a while and I believe if everyone gives his best, we will get promoted," said Mita.

The arrival of Mita comes as a relieve to the club that lost two of the best performers of last season.

Mara parted company with the duo of Victor Ngume and Dennis Maruti who joined Kariobangi Sharks and Murang'a Seal respectively.
