With promotion firmly within reach, MOFA entered the encounter knowing that nothing short of victory would suffice to keep their push on track.
On the other hand, Mully Children’s Family arrived buoyed by a three-match unbeaten run, seeking maximum points to strengthen their fight for survival.
The hosts wasted no time asserting their intent, launching wave after wave of attack from the onset.
Inside the opening six minutes, Kevin Bulimo showcased his brilliance on the flank, beating Erick Ambunya before cutting the ball back into the danger area.
Amunike attempted an audacious backheel finish, but his effort narrowly missed the target.
MOFA continued to pile pressure moments later, with Nelson Amunga coming close after latching onto Amunike’s pass, only to see his effort hit the side netting.
Despite being on the back foot, MCF nearly snatched a surprise opener when Ochieng John rose to meet a well-delivered ball from Ambunya.

However, goalkeeper Paul Odhiambo reacted swiftly, rushing off his line to deny the effort.
The hosts remained relentless. Bulimo, Amunga, and George Okutu all came close in quick succession, stretching the visitors’ defense to its limits. Yet, MCF held on, resisting the early storm.
Their resistance was finally broken eight minutes before halftime.
A precise through pass from Bulimo split the defense and found Amunike unmarked.
The forward showed composure, shielding the ball before calmly slotting past goalkeeper John Were to give MOFA a deserved lead heading into the break.
After the restart, MOFA picked up where they left off, continuing to dominate proceedings.
Joseph Bate nearly doubled the advantage in spectacular fashion, unleashing a bicycle kick that rattled the woodwork.
MCF had brief moments of promise, with Ezekiel Okare coming close, but they lacked the cutting edge to trouble the hosts consistently.
As the game wore on, MOFA’s persistence paid off. With 20 minutes remaining, they were awarded a penalty after a handball incident in the build-up.
Laban Otieno stepped up and calmly converted, extending the hosts’ lead and putting them firmly in control.
The visitors struggled to respond, and MOFA continued to dictate the tempo.
Their dominance was sealed in style during the closing stages when Joseph Bate produced a moment of brilliance, curling a sumptuous free kick into the top corner to cap off a perfect afternoon for the hosts.
The emphatic victory sees MOFA revive their promotion charge, moving to 52 points and closing to within a single point of third-placed Equity FC.
For Mully Children’s Family, the defeat halts their recent momentum and deals a significant blow to their quest for survival.
