Gor Mahia boast the best statistical record in this clash, with 31 victories whereas Leopards have 27, the sides have shared spoils 34 times
The first leg of the 2023/24 Mashemeji Derby is set to go down on Saturday 7 October from 4pm at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
It will be the 94th edition of the highly cherished football showpiece in the country with the two giants, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia fighting for bragging rights.
AFC Leopards started the season on a bad note and are yet to win any league match five fixtures into the season.
The Tom Juma instructed young cubs have succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at KCB before picking a point against Talanta FC, Muhoroni Youth, Kenya Police and Shabana. Begging a question if they will hold their mettle against the defending champions who are on fine form of seven matches without dropping maximum points.
On the other hand, the twenty times Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions have started their league campaign on a high, sinking Ulinzi Stars and Nairobi City Stars before playing out to stalemates against Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB.

Nairobi City Stars vs Kenya Police
Police Sacco Pavillion will play host to the tie pitting Nairobi City Stars and the law enforcers Police FC.
Police, playing in familiar territories, are seeking to continue their perfect start under Croat Zdravko Logarusic as they charge towards turning the struggling club's false start to the campaign.
Prior to the match, Police who drubbed Bidco the previous weekend for first win of the term, are unbeaten in four games and will hope to carry the form into today's clash.
Out of the previous four meetings between the two Nairobi entities, Police have run away with three points on two instances while two duels have ended in a stalemate. None of the sides has kept a clean sheet in three consecutive encounters.
The match starts at 3.00 PM E.A.T.
Ulinzi Stars vs Kariobangi Sharks
At Ulinzi Sports Complex, Ulinzi Stars will be welcoming familiar foes Kariobangi Sharks.
Seventeenth placed Ulinzi approach the match bidding to end their poor start to the season that has seen the Anthony Kimani charges lose four of the opening five league games.
William Muluya's Sharks are looking to rise from last weekend blues that lead to a 1-0 loss at the hands of log leaders Posta Rangers thus missing a shot at the top two spots.
Sharks have, however, struggled defensively this season conceding in each of the last three games.
Elsewhere, Murang'a Seal play host to Sofapaka FC at St. Sebastian Park with the Ezekiel Akwana's troops hoping to end their disastrous start to the season.
