The "openness" of the Coupe de France (French Cup) is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives amateur sides a chance to face top-tier teams in early stages and, why not, make a few upsets. However, on the other hand, the minnows are often at risk of being demolished.

A fifth-tier side, Bayeux, last night had the opportunity to lock horns with French football giants Olympique Marseille and suffered a disastrous defeat - 9-0.
