Marseille on cloud nine: L'OM demolish fifth-tier side behind Greenwood's five goal contributions

Apart from three goals, the Englishman made two assists, as five different players from Roberto De Zerbi's squad found the net in a 9-0 win against the minnows Bayeux in the French Cup
The "openness" of the Coupe de France (French Cup) is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives amateur sides a chance to face top-tier teams in early stages and, why not, make a few upsets. However, on the other hand, the minnows are often at risk of being demolished.
A fifth-tier side, Bayeux, last night had the opportunity to lock horns with French football giants Olympique Marseille and suffered a disastrous defeat - 9-0.
That’s the tradition and the spirit of the Coupe de France.

It's hard to keep track of everyone in the visitors' ranks who found the net, but we'll try.
First and foremost, Mason Greenwood absolutely dominated the match, scoring a hat-trick and making two assists. The Algerian Amine Gouiri followed him with a brace, while Angel Gomes, Hamed Junior Traore, CJ Egan-Riley, and Neal Maupay each found the net once.

Marseille's 9-0 win was the most crushing triumph of any team in the Round of 32 of the French Cup, though the real challenges have yet to come, as only Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 sides remain in the competition.
In the next phase, Roberto De Zerbi's crew will face Rennes at home on February 4.
