After much speculation about the Englishman's next club, the Turkish side ultimately managed to offer the best terms

Around midnight—the deal was sealed. Both Marseille and Manchester have plenty of reason to celebrate, as two club war chests are about to be filled. The club from the Velodrome has pulled off a historic piece of business by selling Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahce, while the English giants protected their sell-on percentage and secured a handsome payout.

Fenerbahce emerges as the winner, while Atletico Madrid and Saudi club Al Ahli are the defeated parties. The formula of the completed transfer breaks down as follows: an upfront, fixed fee of €40,000,000, with a potential €2,000,000 more in add-ons. Serious money.

Just as announced, the Istanbul club stretched itself to the absolute limit—and then some—all to counter Galatasaray's bombshell signing of Victor Osimhen. They bided their time and didn't rush, but they prepared their response... Now it is up to Mason Greenwood to perform and prove he is worth the investment.

The overall package is massive: when everything is added up, it reaches €82,000,000! This is, of course, provided that the bonuses are triggered and he stays until the end of his contract.

But let's break it all down, starting with the wage packet. The final agreement has been reached. Greenwood will sign a four-year contract, earning €10,000,000 per season, which brings his total salary to €40,000,000. This has been reported by all relevant sources. The transfer figures have already been laid out: Manchester United retained a 40 percent sell-on clause and will cash in nicely, while the English winger has officially become Marseille’s record sale.

Greenwood has bypassed everyone on the French club's historic charts. Franck Ribery once moved to Bayern Munich for €30,000,000, which until today stood as Olympique's third-largest sale. Chelsea paid €38,500,000 for Didier Drogba, while the London club spent as much as €39,000,000 on Michy Batshuayi.

All of them have been surpassed by the lad who came through the ranks at Old Trafford, a player in whom the English giants had placed massive hopes until his legal troubles began... When he was arrested and detained, Manchester United crossed him off for good.

At the Theatre of Dreams, they feared the reaction of the British public and did not dare bring him back into the squad. Instead, he was sent to Getafe, where he began to show signs of life, but the French Riviera suited him even better. Marseille bought out the majority of his contract two summers ago for €26,000,000 and never had cause to regret it.

In 81 appearances, Mason Greenwood scored 48 goals and provided another 17 assists!

He experienced a footballing rebirth at the Velodrome, but with Marseille deciding to cut costs this summer, his departure became inevitable. The only question mark was where he would end up. Olympique actually had better offers on the table: Atletico Madrid offered €40,000,000 fixed plus €5,000,000 in bonuses, while Saudi side Al Ahli offered the same base fee but with a potential €6,000,000 in add-ons.

In the end, however, Greenwood’s own preference made the difference. He chose the Bosphorus and Fenerbahce. The welcome will be spectacular, and the pressure—unbearable. The Turkish giants have been waiting for a league title for over a decade, having not lifted the trophy since the 2013/2014 season. Greenwood will be expected to work miracles, stand on his head, and deliver goals in every single match. Nothing less.

He chose a crazy footballing environment of his own accord. But he has already been in one just like it and did very well on a personal level; the only thing he didn't manage to do was deliver Marseille that long-awaited league title.
