Back in 2000, George Weah spent one season at Stade Velodrome and now his son Timothy is close to following in his footsteps, leaving his mediocre spell with Juventus behind
Olympique Marseille are seriously collecting "firepower" necessary to stand up to the mighty Paris Saint-Germain and make the title race in the Ligue 1 interesting. Yesterday, they secured Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's return, and today, sources from France claim Timothy Weah is near arrival at Stade Velodrome.
According to RMC Sport, the son of the legendary George Weah, the only African player to win the Ballon d'Or, will join Marseille on loan from Juventus with a mandatory buyout clause worth €12-15 million. Young Weah reportedly has a five-year deal with L'OM on the table.
❗️Juventus and Marseille are in advanced negotiations regarding Timothy Weah for a loan deal with obligation to buy set between €12M and €15M.

Interestingly, his father, George, spent the 2000/2001 season at Stade Velodrome and scored five goals in 20 appearances. Still, he was 34 at the time and his glorious Serie A days were behind him.
Unlike George, Timothy's spell in Italy was mediocre. He did play 43 matches for the Old Lady last season, but clocked only around 55 minutes per game on average. In total, he marked his time at Allianz Stadium with seven goals and as many assists in 78 appearances.
As for Juve, they won't lose much, as they paid Weah €11 million to Lille two years ago. The Bianconeri manager, Igor Tudor, relied more on some other players like Alberto Costa, Nicolas Gonzalez, and Francisco Conceicao, giving Weah just 390 minutes across ten games since he sat on the club's bench last March. Hence, parting ways was a logical and expected turn of events.
