Only a year after he left Olympique to join the Saudi Al-Qadsiah, Aubameyang has agreed to return to Stade Velodrome

It's July 2023 all over again. Not because Declan Rice or Jude Bellingham are on the move again, but because Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to return to Olympique Marseille! Two years ago, he arrived from Chelsea and now comes to Stade Velodrome after a one-year spell at Saudi Al-Qadsiah.

Many things have changed at the club from the south of France since Auba's last stint: Roberto De Zerbi has introduced his ideas, names like Mason Greenwood, Neal Maupay, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Adrien Rabiot have joined the team, while the previous season's runner-up spot secured Marseille a return to the UCL.

Only two things remained the same: L'OM failed to end Paris Saint-Germain's "terror," and Aubameyang never stopped busting rivals' nets.

Many Marseille fans still remember the Gabonese's first spell with their side, during which he recorded 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 matches. Based on his performances with Al-Qadsiah, they can expect more of the same in the following campaign.

Namely, apart from earning vast money in Saudi Arabia, Aubameyang scored 21 goals in 36 appearances, proving that he still has what it takes for the elite level.

The 36-year-old terminated his contract with Al-Qadsiah, rejected Al-Ettifaq's offer, and, according to L'Equipe, will sign a two-year deal with Marseille.

Before the French and Saudi sides, Aubameyang played for AC Milan, Dijon, Lille, Monaco, Saint-Etienne, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea.
