He takes over from Francis Xavier who left for assisant coaching role at Sofapaka
Former Murang’a Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi looks set to land the vacant coaching role at National Super League leaders Mara Sugar, Mozzart Sport can confidently report.
The well-traveled gaffer has been without a team after leaving his role at Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Murang’a at the start of the 2023-2024 season.
Nyaberi, who is not new to the second tier, takes over from Francis Xavier who left the team two weeks ago for an assistant coaching role at top-flight side Sofapaka FC.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the Millers team manager Thomas Mboya said that the club was finalizing the contract details with the experienced expert before presenting him to the team supporters with a likelihood of a major club statement coming on Monday.
“It is true Nyaberi will take over from Xavier, but the deal is not yet complete because we have some aspects of the contract that are being ironed out before we can finally present our coach on Monday if things go to plan,” he stated.
Late last week it emerged that over twenty coaches had shown interest in filling the vacant coaching role but it was Nyaberi who convinced the selection panel due to his adverse experience in the second tier and ability to squeeze results from a modest squad.
“Nyaberi is not new to the league and he aligns with our aim as a club which is to gain promotion at the conclusion of the season, therefore, it was an easy pick for the panel. Furthermore, he has the ability to work with any team provided that he is given a free hand in his work, and here at Mara coaches are left to do their work, we only need the results,” added the team manager who has overseen Mara scale up the ladder from the fourth tier.
Nyaberi who has previously handled Shabana in the second division is tasked with guiding the Narok stationed club to top-flight football having initially achieved the fete with Murang’a last season.
The Sugar Men assistant coach Godfery Naibei is expected in the dugout this weekend as Mara takes on Mulembe United at Mumias Sports Complex ahead of the ‘big’ announcement on Monday.
