Man United against potentially worst team in Premier League history

Reading Time: 3min | Mon. 08.12.25. | 15:37

Anything but the Red Devils' victory against Wolverhampton tonight (23.00) would be a major surprise

Manchester United have only one triumph in the last five Premier League rounds, and are far from the form their fans would like to see. However, they'll have a fantastic chance to start a new winning run tonight (23.00) against potentially the worst team in the Premier League history - Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In 14 EPL rounds this season, the Wolves have won only two points, failing to win a single match. Moreover, they are one of only two sides in the top five European leagues without a league triumph, alongside the Serie A side Fiorentina.

But that's just the beginning...

Wolverhampton haven't scored in five consecutive games - since October 29, when they lost 4-3 to Chelsea in the EFL Cup. As for the EPL, their last goal came three days earlier, in a 3-2 loss to Burnley when Marshall Munetsi found the net.

Hence, in November, the club couldn't choose a "Goal of the Month" as their only player to find the net during the past month was Yerson Mosquera, who scored an own goal against Fulham!

Even the change on the bench, the sack of Vitor Pereira and the arrival of Rob Edwards on November 12 didn't improve the horrific situation of the Molineux Side.

The officially worst team in the history of England's top flight was Derby County, which collected only 11 points in the 2007/2008 season, winning 0,29 points per game. Based on their current tally, the Wolves win just 0,14!

Finally, to make matters worse, five of their players - Marshall Munetsi (Zimbabwe), Emmanuel Agbadou (Ivory Coast), Tolu Arokodare (Nigeria), Tawanda Chirewa (Zimbabwe), and Jackson Tchatchoua (Cameroon) - will travel to Morocco to represent their respective national teams at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further aggravating Edwards' crew's situation.

Could United ask for an easier rival?
