The talented midfielder will stay at the club until 2031
Just months ago, Kobbie Mainoo was on the verge of leaving the club he joined at the age of six but now he will stay for another five years (at least). Manchester United secured the extension of one of their brightest Academy talents as Mainoo signed a deal until 2031. At just 21, the boyhood United fan has already made 98 appearances for the club, scoring the decisive goal in the 2024 Emirates FA Cup final and representing England in the Euro 2024 final.

The deal is also very important for the player’s financial future: United gave him a 650% pay rise as we went from 20.000 pounds to 150.000 pounds per week. Mainoo and his representatives have been in talks with the club for nearly two years, and appeared to have reached an agreement last February but former coach Ruben Amorim was not keen on the player, so the deal was put on hold.
“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family. I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six. We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead” said Mainoo in a club statement.
The player’s status rapidly changed when Michael Carrick came as an interim manger. Under Carrick, he played 12 of the 13 games and United lost to Leeds when he was absent due to an injury. Was that the main reason for a loss is not something we can claim for sure, but the club is very high on the player.
